On one of our Liverpool days Me, Ruby, Hazel and Dad went to the world museum. First we went to the ancient Greek layer, called Return of the Gods. We got a tour there. It had statues of all the gods, except for poseidon.

Henry Blundle, a wealthy landowner in the 18th century, travelled around Italy and France buying life size statues that he liked along the way. He didn’t get them for the carving, he just liked marble. Somehow all the statues ended up in the museum's horde of artefacts. Not only did he buy statues on his trip, he also bought fragments of sarcophaguses, which were the containers dead people were put in. Lots of these marble things he bought were in lots of different pieces that Henry's people had to put back together, though some were still in pieces, such as a cup that Dionesus was holding. One of the workers thought it was a coffee cup and actually drank from it! When the workers got it the cup was stained darkly inside from the coffee. There were some statues that weren’t from him though, like the ones of roman emperors. One of them, Commodus, thought he was so amazing that he claimed he was a son of Zeus. in his reign he wanted to change the name of Rome to Commodiana. The people of Rome didn’t like him, so he got strangled in a bathtub!

The tour finished at the story of Phersephone. We said thank you to the tour guide and walked through the exit to see what more things we would discover.

The next exhibition we went to was about animals.

When we came in we saw the whole body of a dinosaur skeleton . The room was like a loop. there were no actual animals though . We saw a gigantic bird. Me, Ruby and Mila played a game where we had to pick an animal from each section .

Next we went to an ancient Egyptian exhibition .

There were lots of pictures and status of their goods .

There were heaps of Sargrophusus and a room full of mummies

Afterwards, we went into a culture room .

We didn't stay long but it had so many cultures, even Maori !

After this we visited an exhibition about space. We learned about the space station and how they work! The exhibit was anywhere near as big as the one in London but still had lots of information. At the far end of the room there was a T.V screen which showed us a film about the space station. One of the facts that the man showed us on the video was a cool thing that he could do with water. He could create a bubble of water which would float around in the air. Then he pulled out a ping pong bat looking object. Because of the material used to create it, he could play ping pong with the bubble of water!

Twenty minutes later we went to a Planetarium show which was right next to the space exhibit. The show's theme was the Earth to the universe. It was really intense at some parts but at others it was more calm and relaxing. The show lasted for about twenty minutes.

That is a very comprehensive overview of the world museum Mila. Goodness I would like to go there and experience what you have experienced. You described the almost indescribable.

Hazel it's really fun being at an archeological center. You get to feel what the Archeologists job would feel like and have some success as well. We look forward to your next adventure.
