All across Europe we have seen many different Amphitheatres, all of different sizes in different places. One of the more famous ones that you might know is the Colosseum, which we visited in Rome.
Amphitheatres were used for performances of many types. Some for Singing and dancing while others would host gruesome gladiator battles. The Amphitheaters are shaped like a bowl to increase the volume of the speaker as, of course, microphones were yet to be invented.
Before performances people would make offerings to Bachus, the Roman god of Festivities and shows, and his Greek form Dionysus. They did this to promise a good show.
Amphitheatres are amazing and it is really great to see how they have survived and are still partly intact after all these years. I am glad to have seen so many.
