TROY, Turkey - By Ruby

Our time in Troy was really interesting and we learned lots about history and the story of the Trogen Horse. In Troy we went to a Museum, Ruins and a life sized model of the Trojan Horse. 

The Trojan horse model was the same one that had been used in the movie Troy which told the story of the Trojan war. The Trojan had to get inside the walls of a Greek city which they had been fighting. So they put a wooden horse outside the gates and hid inside it. When the Greeks looked outside of the walls the next day they saw the horse. When they realised that the Trojans had disappeared they figured they had left and that the horse was a peace present. They took the horse inside and celebrated their victory. But that night the Trojans climbed out of the horse and opened the gates from the inside and let in all the other trojans who had been hiding! They then set the town on fire and killed any Greek they saw!

Another day we visited a Museum that had artefacts from all sorts of ruins from all sorts of times. The museum has pottery, sculptures, jewellery and so many more ancient pieces. One section of the museum was dedicated to the Trojan War and it told the whole story. The Trojan War started when Paris of Greece and Helen of Troy ran away together to Greece because of their love for each other. But Menelaus, King of Sparta, had already been married to Helen and wasn’t happy when she went to Greece with Paris. He declared war and the Trojan war began. 

Next we went to the ruins of the Trojan town. We walked above the ruins on walkways and looked at the ruins of houses, shops and walls. It was very hard to tell what was what as every wall of bricks looked the same so there were signs in front of every ruin telling us what we were looking at. 

Our time in Troy was great and I really enjoyed looking at the ruins and learning about the Trojan war.
