The day we arrived in Dambula was also the day we were doing a little hike to see a temple.
Our driver Nuwan parked up, and we all got. I wasn’t that happy that we couldn’t find my hat, because we had seen the consequences of sun burn. But in the end I got over the fuss, and we walked up. It was mostly stairs, no nice straight paths, so I was pretty overjoyed when we got there.
We had to take off our shoes, which was ok with me because my feet got a good stretch. There was a lot of bribing and people trying to get us to buy their products, which were very interesting. There were boxes that you had find out how to open. There were also these necklaces that were made out of moonstone, they were as misty as the fog that you see in early mornings. But we just had to ignore them.
Soon we found our way through the crowd and eventually met the entrance to the temple. Not the temples actual entrance, just the area were you have pay to get into. Soon enough we were finding our way into the first cave.
As I walked in I immediately felt as if I was royalty. The walls were lined with beautiful patterns that spread all the way across the cave. There were Buddhas almost everywhere. They were mostly the meditation Buddha. The day we arrived in Dambula was also the day we were doing a little hike to see a temple.
