Hazel's facts about the leaning tower of Pisa.
The tower is leaning because it was built on soft ground.
They started making the tower in 1173 and finished in 1372.
It was built to be a bell tower.
It stands 56 metres and tall and 183 feet.
The leaning tower is in a town called Pisa which in in Italy.
People made it stable by puttle metal bars underneath it.
The tower is one of the most popular landmarks in Italy. Millions of people go every year.
It is safe to climb the leaning tower of Pisa because they have made it stable.




















When we were last there Hazel they were underpinning it Hazel so we couldn’t climb it, but I remember doing so a VERY long time ago and it was the strangest sensation, and bit scary 🙈. Lovely pictures

Thanks for that Haze. It really is leaning isn't it? I guess they didn't want to make it straight when they strengthened it or it would be the very boring straight tower of Pisa. Didn't it take a long time to build? Did you climb it Haze? Love Nana and Granddad.
