The amber fort is located in Jaipur, North India. It is a huge fort made of sandstone and marble that has a big palace inside. The Amber fort gets it names from the fertility and earth goddess who was named Ambassador Mata. It began being built in 1592 and too 25 years to build. The Marharajas lived in the forts with their families.
Amber fort was originally going to be used for the movie Indiana Jones, but the Indian government disagreed with the script and asked them to change it. In the end it was filmed in a studio but inspiration was taken from Amber Fort.
To get to Amber fort we had to drive through the little village that was just a couple minutes away. The little village was placed among ruins of the old one, some people actually still lived in thee ruins! We drove up for a little bit longer till we got to a area were lot's of other cars were parked.
Outside was a ginormous step well called Panna Meena Ka Kund with stairs that criss cross down! It was used as a water source and also for sitting around catching up and chatting. The well below used to be fresh water, unlike now. Now the water was green with plants growing in it and rubbish floating on it. I wouldn't want to be drinking out of that! After we stayed there for a while we finally decided to go back into the car and drive further up to the actual park.
We hopped out of our car and said goodbye to our driver, then we walked along with our guide up to the gate. There were lots of people selling things but we just ignored, when we finally walked through the gate, we emerged into a huge court yard. There were actual elephants you could ride up the steep path easing to the courtyard. We walked through the court yard up some stairs and under a little shelter, the people there gave us some powder colour on our faces to celebrate the upcoming Holi festival.
Once we walked through it it felt like we were in a dream, we were in a smaller court yard this time, and it was filled with lots of different beautiful rooms. We went to one that had an amazing view and then walked through to another area. This area was a series of corridors, we walked up one of them and found our selves in a garden.
There were two rooms, one of them was filled with mirrors which was actually glass imported from Belgium in Europe, and another had a water chute running through it. The mirror room was called the winter room and the water room was called the summer room. We made our way through another corridor and found our selves almost at the exit. We strolled through that area and took a curve. We watched a puppet show, then continued on to our next destination.

Mila, what a wonderful and descriptive insight into the Amber Fort. You told us about your day and described the various scenes in such detail that I felt like I was there. It sounds like a truly amazing place. I love the idea of the winter and summer rooms. Great photos too. It looks like the place is huge. Thanks for that truly wonderful report Moo.
