Sarajevo
Sarajevo is the capital of Bosnia and Hercegovina. The streets had cobblestone paths and shops lined the sides.
In the town before Sarajevo we met a family that was also travelling, they were from Auckland. We decided to meet up in a park and have a picnic when we got to Sarajevo. The family was really nice and we swapped stories about our travels. The parents had a son who was around Mila’s age. Everyone kicked a ball around the park and tried to play soccer. Sadly, it started to rain very heavily with thunder and lightning and we had to pack up and leave.
Another activity that we did while in Sarajevo was visit an abondoned Bobsled track that was used in the 1984 winter olympics. It is covered in graffiti now but we could walk along it. We met the same family there as we were mostly doing the same activities as them. We walked the full length of the track and back.
In Sarajevo there is a children’s war museum, which tells the stories of different children’s experiences during the war. The museum wasn’t large but it held a lot of information and stories. I really enjoyed visiting this museum.
We stayed in Sarajevo for five nights, and had an amazing time!

Beautifully written. We had a great time with you and family in Sarajevo. Hope it is not too hot for you now. We reached 44° in Bajina Basta yesterday, today found a nice lake to cool down in Tampa national park.
How lovely meeting another Kiwi family and being able to do some of the experiences with them. I remember when the winter olympics were in Sarajevo Rubes.
