While in Taiwan we did a five day bike ride, which took us around the country. Every day we would get up, eat breakfast and then set off biking to our next destination. Most of the hostels that we stayed in would provide breakfasts for us. The biking would take around three hours each day, without counting our stops. We got to bike through many different scenery like rice fields and forest. Overall me and my dad biked from Hualien to Tainan. While Mila, Hazel and my mum went from Hualien to Chishang which is one day shorter.

On the first day we biked from Hualien to Fenglin.

As this was our first day with the bikes we went to a small park where we could get used to them and work out the gears. After this we set off, ready for a great day of biking. We biked along the highway for a while before changing to the country roads. We all had a little screen on the handles of our bikes which would tell our how fast we are going, our top speed, the time, how many kilometres we have biked and loads more. We used these screens throughout our five day journey to see who could get the highest top speed.

Next we continued our journey to Ruisui on the following day.

We left our accomdantion at around ten in the morning and started our biking. This time we went onto a country road almost straight away and biked through a very hot dirt road. Our accommodation in Ruisui was very cute, with the dining room all set up for chrismas. This was our first accommodation that provided breakfast and it was very yum!

Then we biked to Yuli. Pronouced E-uly.

At Yuli there was a night market right next to our hostel, so we went to look around it for dinner. My mum, my dad and I all got some spicy chicken while Hazel got fruit and Mila tried some Bubble Tea. On our way back through the market my dad saw some Stinky Toufu which is a speality in Taiwan. He wanted to try some so we bought a little bit. Me and my sisters refused to try any but my mum trued a little... she didn't like it. So my dad was left to eat the rest.

Next we went to Chishang which was were my sisters and my mum finished their journey.

The hostel was hidden away from the town so we had to bike up a hill to get there. At this point Mila and Hazel had done a lot of bike riding so they were really tired. So it was decided that they would take the train to the last destation while me and my dad would bike.

And for me and my dads last day we biked to Tainan.

The bike ride was mostly downhill or on a little slope but there were a few up hill parts that were pretty tough. At one point, while we had stoppped on a bridge, we saw Mila, Hazel and my mums train going past!

I had a really good time biking around Taiwan. It was a really fun and adventurous way to make our way across the country!

Wow what a wonderful experience, but I bet it was hard work, don’t blame, Mum, Mila and Hazel taking the train for the last day! Did the clever screen on the bike also give you directions too I wonder.
