We arrived in Naxos on a ship that had taken us from Athens. It was a five hour ferry that also dropped people off at Paros, which is another Island in Greece. At the first glance I already knew that I loved this place, everything looked so beautiful and to me it seemed that this is what every island should be like, white and blue buildings and restaurants dotted the boardwalk and the sun shining bright light against all the white surfaces. I could hear the crash of the waves as they hit the shore and I was super excited.
While we were in Naxos we stayed in two different hotels, one that was closer to the beach and another that was more into the town. We stayed in the hotel near the beach first and we spent a lot of time playing and swimming on the shore. The weather was amazing and the water was a perfect temperature. We also went out into the town and down cute alley ways so mum could take photos of us with blue doors and white walls, stairs or floors. They were all so pretty but it was super bright, we only took out sunglasses off for the photos.
On the last day at this hotel we tried to make the most of being right next to the beach by spending nearly the whole day there!
In the evening we got a ride to our next hotel which was bigger than the other one, we had a large kitchen, three bedrooms and a balcony for each one! We rented out a car and drove to some landmarks around the island, some of these were amazing beaches, cute towns and beautiful scenery. The temple of Apollo was great for sunset photos and alll the beaches were crystal clear! We found a olive oil museum where we got to learn about how olive oil is made and we got to try some too! Another place we found was an old hotel that an artist had painted over, many walls where covered in amazing and different pieces, it was also above a beach and we had a great view of its clear water shimmering in the light.
Being an island, seafood is very popular in Naxos and we had some delicious calimari at a remote sea side restaurant we found. Another food in Naxos that we ate was a gyro, a gyro is a wrap made out of pita bread with the inside full of meat ,tomotoes, onion, lettuce, fries and sauces. Its more of a fast food but it is something that you don't find in many other countries. I loved the gyro and my favourite was pork which is one of the meats you can usually choose from.
After a few days of sightseeing, school started up again, we had to start our online learning in the morning after breakfast and then in the afternoon we would walk to the beach and swim or play on the sand. We had about three days of this until it was time for us to leave Naxos and fly to Athens, where we are now. We are going to stay in the airport for five hours before flying to Rome and starting a new adventure there!

Thanks for that comprehensive report about Naxos Ruby. It sounds truly amazing and nice to have a bigger apartment and stay in one place for a while. Ever so pretty and how wonderful to be able to swim so often. Good on you for trying all the new foods and you saw so many interesting things yet again. Hope the online learning is going ok. Did you do some while spending time at the airport? Love Nana and Granddad.
