While we were in Italy, my dad and I went on a 10k run in a town called Lucia. This town was surrounded by a large city wall and u side the city there were houses, shops and streets. Just like a normal town, except that this one was inside of a tall wall.
Before the run started we got our number which was placed in a sticker. We also got a red T-Shirt that had the name of the race on it.
We went up to the starting line and waited for the count down. There were lots of people there!
When the buzzer went off I tried to jog or run but there were so many people that I could only walk slowly!
As we started to move on through, all the runners started to spread out and we could run faster. We were running on top of the wall that surrounded the town. Not too long after though, we came back down and we were running on a grassy field.
At the start I was talking to my dad, but as we ran on I couldn't talk anymore because I was too puffed out.
We were running through the town inside the wall and also the town outside of the wall!
We passed an amazing church, it had paintings of religious people on the front of it and it had glass stained windows. After running for 9 kilometres, I decided to give it my all in the last Kilometre. But, it turned out that the race wasn't exactly ten kilometres. It was more like 9.2 or even less than that!
After the race, we could go back to the starting line and get some food and something to drink.
So this was my first 10km run and even though it was really tiring I still really enjoyed it!

Ruby, you are an inspiration. Well done.
Well done Ruby (and Chris). It must have been great running around the city walls too. I don’t think this will be your last 10k run.
