On Friday Me and Mum went to Hampton court. We took three different trains to get there.

Hampton court had a lot of chimneys. That meant people would have a good time, because it would be warm and there would be yummy food. It also had a lot of kitchens, king Henry VIII loved to eat. They cooked ninety sheep a day! I hated that part, sheep are my favorite animal. They had to cater for four hundred people. King Henry would’ve had at least twenty courses while the maids only had three. Once they had a pig stitched to a bird as one of the courses!

King Henry had six wives, two beheaded, two got divorced, one died from childbirth, and one finally stayed alive. That was his last wife.

Woah… the gardens were huge. The maze was especially fun. Me and Mum were there for half an hour trying to get out of the maze! We got to the centre and had to take the fast exit.

King Henry’s apartments were good too. I liked the big church. We didn’t see his bedroom though. They decorated the hall with tapestries that had gold silk weaved through them. The purpose was to make them sparkle in the firelight. Henry liked to impress his guests.

There’s a time called the Georgian period. That’s because all the kings were called George! George the first, the second and the third. They loved to gossip. They had a big room full of weapons. Another with a huge bed. All with beautiful paintings. George the first was really grumpy and didn’t like party’s.

I loved Hampton court and I’m glad mum took me!

Hi Mila, mum and I loved your description of Henry’s 6 wives! We were laughing so much! Those trees look amazing. We need to do some research about Hampton court and if we should go there too. Love to you all, from Katie.

I knew you would love Hampton Court Mila. Henry VIII’s court did eat a ridiculous amount of food, but the kitchens always fascinate me, they must have been so hot and so busy. So lovely to have spent some time with you over the past 2 weeks - safe onward journey, and enjoy York - I think you will
