Yesterday, we went to the capital Slovenia, Ljubljana!

One of the main tourist attractions there is a fort/castle up on a hill. It was built in the 11th century and the Ljubljana castle translates into the beloved, making it the beloved castle.

To get up to the castle you can walk up a path or take a fanicular (A gondala like machine that you take you up the hill). When you come through the entrance, you can see brick walls and grand doorways!

Certain parts of the castle are made from different materials and are different colours. This is because parts of the castle were built in different time periods instead of the whole thing being built at once. The oldest part is the smallest part and is made out of red brick with moss growing on it. We visited this part in our tour.

The tour lasted for one hour and we got shown around the castle and learnt about its history. This tour was called the Time Machine. The reason it got this name was because while you are on this tour you are met by people from different timelines in history and they tell you about their thoughts and their experinces from when they lived at the castle. We listened to people with six different stories; The Romans, Saint George, who atempted to kill the dragon of Ljubljana. We also saw the emporer and his wife, a prisoner and a man who had made the original plans for the castle! They were all very interesting and it was fun to listen to their perceptive of different events!

After the tour we walked around the castle ourselves and went to a tall lookout tower where we got amazing views of the town. We could see all the mountains around the town too! We also went into the prison and learnt about how prisoners were treated and what they had to do. After that we went to a puppet museum. This was still all in the castle! We got to learn about the history of puppets and we even got to create our own puppet show. We spent around an hour doing all of those activities and then we decided to head back down the hill.

We walked around the town and went to a food markets where we got lunch. The town is famous for dragons so we saw many dragon shops where you could buy toys, T-shirts and more dragon themed souvenirs. There was a dragon bridge too. The streets were really pretty and cute, we got lots of photos and had a really nice stroll.

We all had a great time and I had lots of fun! This town is really cute and there are so many different parts to explore!
