Leonardo Da Vinci is famous for being an inventor, architect, and artist. He painted the Mona Lisa, and he introduced flying into the world. He was a truly incredible man.

The Da Vinci in Leanardo’s last name actually isn’t his last name, that just means from Vinci,  which is where he grew up.

His Mum was called Caterina, although no one ever figured out who she was, but sadly she died. Leanardo’s Dad was called Ser Piero, but Leanardo lived with his Grandfather.

When Leonardo was fifteen, his Grandfather died, so his Dad took him to live in Florence.

When Leanardo got there, he was amazed. Actually, he was more curious than amazed. It was much louder than Vinci, but it also had much better and impressive structures. The churches were fascinating and the town's walls were so beautiful that Leanardo almost fainted.

This encouraged Leanardo to become what we think of him today. He spent his whole time in Florence learning what he could: flying, body structures, art, maths and so much more! He made so many inventions but so many of them weren’t even made. In fact, he made over twenty thousand papers just filled with inventions! Just to keep them safe he wrote all his thoughts in reverse!

He did everything he could, from bridges to warcraft. He must have been pretty smart.

For seventeen years, Leonardo worked for the Duke of Milan! He died at the age sixty seven, but he lived a really impressive life.

We are staying in Leanardo's home town, Vinci. It's beautiful and Mum loves it especially. Vinci is in the Tuscany countryside with rolling hills and vineyards.

We went to the museums of Leanardo Da Vinci, Which had mini models of the ideas and curiosities that Leanardo had. We were lucky that we hadn't gone in the summer, since the day we went there wasn't heaps of tourists. We went to the museums in the wrong order, but that didn't really matter.

After the first one we got Gelato, it was delicious and it had gluten free cones!

The next one explained a lot about Leanardo's studies about the human body.

The last one we went to was Leanardo's old house. It explained Leanardo's childhood.

I would have found all of that to be so interesting Mila. Thank you for that very concise report. I learned heaps and, yes, what an amazing individual with such an advanced human mind. You are much better looking than Mona Lisa by the way.

You are right Mila. Leonado was a remarkable man. Not sure he would have approved of your face in his Mona Lisa 🤣. Italy is a wonderful country full of wonderful history and architecture not to mention three inquisitive little girls 🥰
