Ireland - By Ruby

After our time in LiverPool we took a three hour ferry ride to Ireland where we would be staying for a week. To get to the ferry we first took a train that had hardly any people on it because of the train strikes.  We were lucky ours wasn’t cancelled.  When we arrived in IreLand we got picked up by our friend Erica who we would be staying with. She and her husband Leo have three kids, Jack, Elle, and Lucia.

On our first day in Ireland, Jack, Elle and Lucia were going to school so we went out into town by ourselves. We had found a walking tour that would take us around the town and teach us about Irish history. There were around 15 to 20 people in our group and the guide was great and funny.   The town was really beautiful!

Beach - The next day our friends took a day off school so that they could hang out with us. We took the train down the coast to a beach side town and spent the day on the beach. We built sandcastles, played on the rocks, and kicked a soccer ball about. After doing a competition to see who could kick the soccer ball the furthest (My dad won), we decided to play rounders. The teams were our family against theirs, it was super fun and I had a really good time playing. Then we walked down the walkway along the beach and bought an ice cream.

The day after we drove to the National Park in Galway County, a very small town we would be staying in for two nights. Erica’s whole family came with us two except for Jack. The drive was around three hours long and we drove through lots of pretty towns and along the coast. The holiday home that we stayed at was close to a farm that had animals we could pet like a pig and her piglets, horses and my personal favourites… Goats! There were three goats, two adults and one baby who was very cute. On our first full day there, after petting the animals, we went on a hike up a mountain to a great view. Hazel and Lucia didn’t do the full hike up to the top so it was just Mila, Elle, Chris, Leo and I who went the whole way.  At the top of the Mountain is was super windy, I could hardly stand up! On our way back the wind was at our back, threatening to push us over.

Another super fun activity we did while here was a murder mystery game. The night before we had all pulled names out of a hat, which would tell us who our characters were. We would then sit at a table, dressed up like our characters. One of us is a murderer and we would go through different rounds acting as our character and trying to figure out who murdered our host. It was super fun and I was the murderer! (Yay!)

All around we had a super great time In Ireland! I really enjoyed hanging out with Elle, Who was my age. Maybe one day she and her family will come to visit us in New Plymouth.

Thank you Hazel for telling us about the adventure into the Castle with mum. We have got a topic in Electives on Castles even though you haven't got time to actually do it, you would identify with many of the things in it because of your experiences visiting castles while you have been away. Super writing and shaping your thoughts onto paper Hazel.

We love that you take the time to put the photos and writing up so all of us to share.👑
