Florence is a big city in Tuscany. The population is 700,000 people. Leanardo Da Vinci lived there for a lot of his lifetime, but that is in a different blog.
We parked in a parking lot with huge towering walls and shaded trees. We walked through a stunning park, which, again, was nicely shaded with trees. Birds chirped and the leaves on the walkway scrunched as we walked through them.
After the park, we strode through a big arched gate that led to a quieter street with lots of little alleyways dotted here and there on the path.
We walked down those alleyways until we found ourselves in a town square.
On one side of it was a ginormous fountain with an over life size statue of which was probably Neptune, the Roman god of the sea.
On the other side was a sheltered room with yet more over life size statues. Ruby and I only recognised two of the statues.
One of them was Hercules, who was tackling a centaur.
The other was Perseus, who held Medusa’s head in one hand. He wore the winged shoes and hat of the Roman god Mercury. He was the god of messages, merchants and travel. He was also the god of thieves.
At the back of the square was the museum that held the statue Michaelaegilo’s David.
After that, we walked to another square, which had a really really old Carousel in it! Mum and Dad let us go on it and it was so fun! I went on an adorable little horse that went up and down.
Florence was also where my Mum and Dad got engaged. They got engaged on the Ponte Vecchio (vech e oh) bridge eighteen years ago.
This is one of the reasons why they made my middle name Florence.

Mila, wow that all sounds amazing and more lovely photos as well. Such a fantastic description. This blog is a great diary of your journey. It gave me an idea of just how historical this city is. Carousel gorgeous. Pretty cool to see where Mum and Dad got engaged. Special for you Moo. Love Nana and Granddad.
What a beautiful city Florence is, Mila Florence (🥰), did you get to go inside the dome of the Duomo? We were fascinated by the graffiti carved into the supporting beams by the artisans who built this amazing building. You could get lost for many hours in the Uffizzi Gallery - come to think of it you could also queue for hours just to get in 🙈🤣
Love the pictures of the carousel. Have fun
