A day in the Cinque Terre

Our day in Cinque Terre started with a train ride to Vernazza, one of the five villages in the Cinque Terre. It was early in the afternoon so we spent an hour looking around without the crowds before we started our Hike. Our Hike wound along the cliff side from Vernazza to Corgnelia. Luckily there were water fountains along the way to fill up drink bottles because it got very hot very fast. The hike took around 1.5 hours and by the time we arrived in Corgnelia so had the other thousand tourists!

After wandering through Corgnelia and a well deserved ice cream stop, we caught the train to Manarola. Manarola has the most beautiful views and we found a park with a great view for the kids to play at. Then it was back on the train to Monterosso Al Mare for some beach time and paddling in the water. A quick slice of pizza to tide us over and one final stop at Riomaggiore to have a quick look at the harbour and a walk with the crowds through the mosaic tunnel leading from the train station to the town.

Cinque Terre is stunning. We were lucky to visit on such a pristine day.
