Gouffre Géant De Cabrespine

This cave is huge! 250 metres deep and 70 metres wide! It has a constant temperature of 14 degrees Celsius. The glass foot bridge overlooks the cave, which drops 200 metres below.

The cave was carved out by water over thousands of years, and much, much later it was discovered in 1968 by a caving club.

The cave is famous for its many crystallisations. One of them, called shields, is very rare. The cave has about a dozen of them. The crystals are protected and nobody is allowed to touch them or break them off.

I was happy that nobody was aloud to touch them, because I wanted the cave to last forever without its beauty being taken away by humankind.
